The First Nations Elections Act became law on April 11, 2014. This new legislation contains several changes and improvements over the Indian Act election system. The objective of this workshop is to provide an outline and summary of the new legislation and to highlight the key information that will be of use to a Nation when deciding whether to opt-in to the new Act. It will also cover procedural guidelines to follow in the instance they do decide to opt-in.
